Flurothane Family
Available for Coil
Valspar® is chosen more often than all of the other brands of PVDF-based coatings. Our Flurothane coil coating systems are one of the many reasons why.
These systems include thick-film primers to give the metal underneath superb protection against the harshest industrial and architectural environments. In addition to ensuring a strong adhesion to the substrate, these thick primers also allow for superior adhesion of the topcoat, which provides even more protection of the base metal.
What’s more, since each product consists of 70% polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resins, they offer resistance to chemicals, acid rain, humidity and salt to help projects maintain their structural and visual beauty for years to come.

FlurothaneProduct Family
Flurothane Coastal
With its unique thick-film primer, this is the coating for the severe coastal conditions, including industrial, commercial and architectural projects that are within 1,500 feet of the sea.
Flurothane II
Ideal for light industrial and general commercial projects. Possible applications include airports and military facilities, plus tough environments that require additional thick-film protection. This is a two-coat system.
Flurothane IV
For heavy industrial environments where there is a lot of humidity or chemicals present, Flurothane IV gives you four tough coats for extra protection. Chemical plants and water treatment plants are ideal applications.
Flurothane V
A five-coat system, Flurothane V is our thickest film for use where there is a specific primer thickness requirement. It’s specially formulated to withstand natural elements as well as man-made substances, including chemicals, corrosion, and UV rays.
Flurothane Special
To create Flurothane Special, we’ve taken our Flurothane II product and given it an additional clear coat for even more color protection. A three-coat system, it’s formulated to take on harsh coastal and industrial conditions and is resistant to chemicals, corrosion, and UV rays.
Fluoropolymer Cleaning and Maintenance Guide
The molecules on the surface of Valspar’s fluoropolymer coating systems are so tightly bound together that it makes them resistant to many elements found in the environment such as air pollution, acid rain and general airborne dirt.
Although Valspar factory-applied finishes are extremely durable, a periodic cleaning to remove build-ups of resins and other residue is a good idea to extend coating life. A variety of methods for removal of surface deposits are available. Simple washing with plain water using hoses or pressure spray equipment is usually adequate. When heavy deposits of dirt or other contaminants dull surfaces, stronger methods may be needed.
